Kuro leans into Shiro's touch. Now that he knows that he's not getting capital punishment (if he was, if his friends, no, his family, felt that was deserved, he'd agree and wouldn't try to defend himself, really, but, honestly, he was glad he was being given a chance to live despite everything), he's more open to touch, not that he didn't crave it moments ago, too, it's just - he thought it'd have been weird. It'd have been as if he was pleading for mercy, when he wasn't.
Now, however, is different. Now that he already knows everyone (except Lotor, and well, Lotor is Lotor, when it comes to all things Haggar, of course it's hard for Lotor to yield, that's alright) surely tolerates Kuro being alive, Kuro's open to touch again.
Starved for it, really, even though it hasn't been long, but the 'nightmare' - no, memories - make it seem longer, to his feelings.
Yes, so... he now wishes he returned Lance's hug. He'll next time.
And he wishes Keith would return soon. Very soon. He really wanted to see him.
Though - that posed its own problems. Keith was... Shiro was like a brother to Keith, long before all other paladins were. What if Keith doesn't accept Kuro? Considers him a fake, considers him someone who put a stop to the search for Shiro, who messed everything up?
Because, actually... wasn't that true? Kuro didn't do it deliberately, he fully thought and believed he was Shiro, but still, he's done all that, hasn't he??
Surely Keith would hate him now.
Kuro looks down, but he's NOT going to share those thoughts.
"Zarkon's dead, Lotor killed him, so it's not like there's any loyalty to Zarkon left," Hunk remarks, and Lance, Pidge, and Kuro all nod.
"She wants to see her son," Kuro says, slowly, as if recalling something very, very distant, and at least remembering Haggar pulls his thoughts away from own life matters, from the matter of Keith and all the feelings, so, there's that; and it's hard to recall Honerva, but it's possible, now that Allura's cleared his mind, "ever since she's remembered that he's her son. Because she's Honerva, but she's also not Honerva. Since the Rift. And-- that makes sense. That's what was in her thoughts. Of course, she wants to use him, too, but that's not all. She remembered Lotor being her son, so she now tries to be Lotor's mother. In ways she knows. Which are... not good, I'm sure."
Lance protests that this doesn't really makes sense, that about Haggar being and not being Honerva, either somebody is someone or they're not!
"No, it makes perfect sense, what doesn't make sense is your failure to understand basic things! You're lucky that no one here punishes for that," Kuro replies, irritated now, wondering why Lance doesn't get it. It makes perfect sense to him right now, so he doesn't get why it wouldn't to everyone, and he's now irritated. It makes perfect sense. For a long time, Honerva lived without certain memories of the past, and then she had them again. And memories make difference in life, so... What doesn't make sense about that? Anyone should understand that much, surely!
He tries not to see Lance flinching. Maybe he shouldn't have said...
Alright, enough thinking about Haggar, he decides, as that's just irritation all around.
He looks down when Shiro informs others of their fight.
Now they will surely despise him. He grits his teeth and looks away, readying himself for any fallout.
Maybe they'll rescind the don't-kill-Kuro decision now. He hoped not, but really, wouldn't they be in the right even if...?
Kuro wanted to live, really wanted to live, even after remembering everything, but he'd agree to whatever decision all the paladins would make.
When Shiro thanks others for taking care of Kuro, Kuro's not sure what to say, really. He wants to thank them, too, but it all feels, to a part of him, like he was accidentally commiting some longterm awful deception. Pretending to be Shiro, to them, in order to have a place in the world, when in truth, back then, there was no place for Kuro, no place apart from the whole Operation Kuron that gave birth to him. The examinations, the tests, everything in the facility and then on the ship... awful places to be, really.
And then there were paladins - whom he accidentally deceived, didn't he?
No, he thinks. No, in my memories, I was Shiro, I didn't know better, so I didn't lie to them, not once. It's true, and he can repeat that to himself, no matter how many times, he still feels as if---
